Kayla Coleman Workshop
Walkerworld Organic Artist Retreat
Castle Hayne, NC
Holy cow I am wayyyy behind on posting this! So finally I’m going to share some photos and my experience from attending the Kayla Coleman Workshop last year.
In a word…AMAZING!
I’ve followed Kayla’s work for years so when she announced her workshop I knew I had to go. I bought those seats they day they went up and impatiently waited for it to roll around. We spent 2 days at Walkerworld Organic Artist Retreat in Castle Hayne, this quirky fun cabin in the middle of nowhere with only 2 doors which are always open. Talk about out of my comfort zone. Oh yeah side note, getting out of your comfort zone is good for you! Everything about this home is so interesting. I have never been to a place that felt more like a representation of the owner. Each item hung on the wall feels like a treasure. Hand selected for it’s own unique qualities and that’s what makes it “go” with every other item. A true view into eclectic! It was here in this home that we spent a few days learning, growing, and laughing with Kayla and a handful of other creatives. Thank you to all the ladies who welcomed Jared into the pack and didn’t make him feel like the odd man out. We really appreciate it!
Kayla spent time with us talking about process, workflows, general life, and even gave us all a website critique. She lined up 3 gorgeous styled shoots for us to learn from. 1 couples lifestyle, 1 wedding, 1 bridal. She found the best models too! Our couple was one of her actual wedding couples who volunteered to let us all hoard around them and take photos. Seriously how cool are they?! I don’t know how they did it and looked so normal and cute.
I feel that this workshop was a defining moment for me, these people helped me to stop trying to keep up with trends and forge my own style + brand regardless of what other people are putting out there. Now this isn’t to say that I don’t still have my days that I question everything I’m doing, I just have a lot less of them. But I don’t really want to stop having those days, I feel they drive me to continue improving.
Kayla, thank you. For being so open, honest, and sharing from the heart. I’m so glad there are people like you who are truly doing this to lift others up and build a community. There are workshops out there that you just feel like a number and payout for the people running them (I’ve been to some 🙁 ). Kayla’s workshop is not one of those!
If you have a chance to go, DO IT! You will not regret a single penny spent. You’ll find friendship, purpose, and a couple random doggos to pet along the way.
A huge thank you to the amazing vendors involved!
